Geoarchaeology and Geoparks

Online talk by  Dr Laura Hamlet, Geoarchaeologist at North West Highlands Geopark

Geoarchaeology uses Earth Science methods to answer Archaeological research questions; the applications are broad and draw upon theories such as Human Ecodynamics to understand how people interact with their environment and the resources available to them. Today many people are less engaged with natural and cultural heritage but understanding and exploring how culture and nature are intrinsically linked can bring about health and wellbeing benefits as well as identify sustainable development opportunities. The UNESCO Global Geoparks program aims to support communities to fully appreciate their landscapes and the opportunities available to them. In the Highlands, the North West Highlands UNESCO Global Geopark follows this model and has been the catalyst for community-led research and geo-tourism initiatives.

Free event. Bookings via EventBrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/geoarchaeology-and-geoparks-tickets-142232281583. Please cancel if after booking you find you cannot attend.
